Introducing Nordic vintage furniture!

Peter Hvidt & Orla Molgaard-Nielsen Dining Chair "model 316" D-R507D424B

This chair was designed by Peter Witz and Orla Målgaard Nielsen, who are also famous for the AX CHAIR.

This chair was released by Peter Witz & Orla Målgaard Nielsen (hereafter referred to as Peter Witz) under the name sobrg Mobler. The manufacturer is also famous for having produced many chairs and boxes for Børge Mogensen.

Peter Witz is gradually becoming more well-known on the streets, and this is due to the reissue of his work at &Tradition and his appearance in a TV drama. Personally, he is one of my favorite designers, so I am happy that he is becoming more well-known. Below is an article that describes the Peter Witz sofa.

Articles introducing sofas

Peter Witz is a designer who actively uses innovative technology to create products that are not eccentric but fit into everyday life. The link molding seen in the AX CHAIR was a structure that was not seen in the Danish furniture design world at the time, but it was successfully incorporated into the iconic design of the AX CHAIR.

*By the way, link-insertion molding is a manufacturing technique that combines solid wood and molded plywood. This technique seems to have also been applied to the production of tennis rackets.

Blog introducing AX CHAIR

Personally, I think the combination of the beautifully curved top rail on the back and the simple back legs is a unique design that gives it an even more elegant feel. It's not a flashy design, but the designer brings out individuality with small design touches such as slanting the crosspieces.

This model also comes in a version with arms, which has been reproduced in recent years and is becoming increasingly popular.

Day Bed D-R403D109 GE259

Next, we will introduce the Wegner Daybed.

This daybed is said to have been designed by Hans J. Wegner, a leading Danish furniture designer, for a student dormitory. It is quite moving to think that students at the time would have stored their bedding in the storage compartment at the back.

In the 1950s and 1960s, models with round legs were produced, but from the 1970s onwards, square legs were used, so this model was produced after 1970.

This is a popular product that is still produced by GETAMA today. GETAMA was originally a manufacturer of mattresses and other bedding, so this product is also well-known for its comfort.

He also had a friendly relationship with Wegner and was in charge of the sofa division of Saresco, an organization that produced furniture designed by Wegner in each factory that specialized in each. Incidentally, Carl Hansen was in charge of the chair division.

The company name was decided by combining the initials of " Gedsted Tang og Madrasfabrik " (Gedsted Seaweed and Mattress Factory) because they used seaweed (Tang) as a filling .

*GE258 is an armless model, and GE259 is an armed model.

I used mina perhonen's chou chou on the back. The mina fabric goes well with the beech wood, and I think it will be the centerpiece of your living room.

Bookcase R412D285

Finally, we would like to introduce another Anonymous book case.

This bookcase is 180cm tall and has excellent storage capacity.

The upper shelf is an open storage space with many dowel holes. The height can be adjusted precisely to accommodate different storage and decoration needs.

The bottom shelf is deep and spacious, so you won't have any trouble storing things. The recessed handle design is cute and endearing. Solid wood is used in some parts, and the design seems to match well with the veneer. The height of the shelves in the lower storage compartment can also be adjusted. This is a bookcase that can be tailored to suit your lifestyle and hobbies.

This product was made in a workshop that no longer exists.

As an aside, next to the workshop sticker you can see the words " DANISH FURNITUREMAKERS' CONTROL". The 1940s to 1960s is said to be the golden age of Danish furniture, but when the popularity of Danish design temporarily declined after the 1960s , a policy was put into place to reassess the value of Danish furniture, and this sticker was only placed on products that met certain conditions to guarantee a certain level of quality in Danish furniture.

These stickers can sometimes help determine the age of the product, so try looking under chairs and tables to find them.

We have a large selection of vintage items from Wegner, Mogensen, etc. If you are in Daikanyama, be sure to stop by Greenwich!
