The CH33 was released in 1958 by Carl Hansen & Son , with whom Wegner had a long-standing partnership.
The first thing that catches your eye is the large curve of the back panel.
When viewed from directly above, it has a crescent moon shape, and this curve gently wraps around your back.
It is rare to find a chair with such a streamlined backrest.
This is a design that could only have been achieved by Wegner, who was both a woodworker and knowledgeable in the field of design.
Looking at the details further, all of the parts have been sanded to remove any sharp edges, giving it a gentle appearance.
The legs are tapered, giving the shoes a light silhouette, but they are designed to flare out at the end, giving them a sense of stability.
Despite its extremely simple design, the joint between the back panel and rear legs is the accent of the whole piece, and Wegner's love for craftsmanship can be seen from the outside, as he has deliberately left the wooden cork visible.
The CH33 was reproduced by Carl Hansen & Son in 2012 and is available in a wide variety of wood species, finishes, and fabrics, but the only ones made from teak are vintage ones, making this a very rare chair.
