Interior, Me, and Radio

Hello everyone. This is Okada from Public Relations.

"Interior, Me, and XX" is a series that connects various hobbies with interior design.
For the first episode, I would like to connect with my favorite radio station.

This is the radio I use every day. The slight noise is pleasant.

I started to love radio seven years ago, when I started working, moved from Osaka to Tokyo, and began living alone for the first time.

At first, I was excited about living alone.
But gradually, I began to feel a little lonely.

"Good morning" in the morning, "I'm home" when you get home, and "Good night" at night.
The lack of casual greetings with family members.
This made him feel like he was alone and he became homesick.

At that moment, I remembered a story about an artist who loves radio.
"When I listen to the radio, it's like someone is talking to me, so I don't feel lonely even when I'm alone at night."

So I decided to listen to the radio! And it's already been seven years since I started listening to it.
During your commute, while working, while eating, while working at home...
Whenever I have free time, I listen to the radio every day. Even if I have something to do, my ears tend to be idle.

So, today I would like to share with you the charm of radio and some interior design tips to help you incorporate radio into your life in a fun way!

1. What I like about radio...Collecting information

What I've always wanted is a stylish radio that can also be used as interior decoration: Tivoli

The first reason I like radio is that it's easy to gather information.
When you think of radio, you might think of listening to music, but it actually conveys a lot of new and wide-ranging information!

In my case, I listen to the day's news on Nikkei Radio.
You can listen to it while doing housework, so it's recommended for people who don't have time to read the newspaper.

They also provide a lot of cultural information, such as popular spots and events.
Recommended movies, books, food, miscellaneous goods, ◯◯ festivals...
I've discovered a lot of things that I've never heard of before but that seem interesting, and now I have a lot of hobbies.

This kind of information can also be obtained from magazines and the Internet, but the unique appeal of radio is that you can gather information while doing other things, such as housework.
You can keep listening because you don't have to make time for it.
By the way, it seems that information received through the ears is more easily retained than information received through the eyes...radio has many good things to offer.

Cooking, cleaning, ironing...if you do it while listening to the radio, your housework time becomes hobby time.
This is my way of making housework fun!

While listening to the radio, you can also use the String

Listening to the radio while cooking. What I want to incorporate is String .
There are a lot of things around the kitchen, and splashing water is a concern. There is no place to put the radio.
String wall-mounted storage can solve all these problems!
Mount it on the kitchen wall and place your radio and your favorite items (flowers and animal mascots) on it.
The kitchen, which tends to be a practical space, feels like it's becoming one of my favorite spaces.

2. What I like about radio... It's easy to learn

With the free radio app radiko, you can enjoy radio on your favorite speakers. Image: https://www.bang-olufsen.com/ja

The good thing about radio is that you can use it for studying too.

Speaking of studying through the radio, NHK's radio courses are famous.
I study business English on the radio for 15 minutes every morning.
Each lesson is 10 to 15 minutes long, which is just the right length for daily practice!

There are paid textbooks available, but listening to the radio is free.
What's more, with the radio streaming service, you can listen to the program at any time for one week after it is broadcast (dedicated app "NHK Gogaku").
I'm so glad to be born in this convenient era!

In addition to these "classes," I am also learning from the radio how to "speak in an easy-to-understand manner."

Unlike television, radio does not convey information visually. However, radio information is easy to understand because images come to mind.
I've noticed the communication skills of radio personalities and try to pay attention to the way they speak.

A way of speaking that is easy for the other person to understand and makes them want to listen more.
One of the great things about radio is that it teaches you skills that are useful in various aspects of your life, both at work and in your personal life!

Learning Radio, Remote Work Table

The remote work table I use at home (65cm high). It goes well with the sofa.

I've been using this learning radio at my remote work table !
Pair it with your favorite chair and study with the radio. The size makes it easy to incorporate into your daily life, making it easy to create a learning space.
In addition, the table is made of solid wood and has a stylish design, so you can even use it for meals!
It takes a little courage to buy a table just for studying, but it's easy to incorporate into your daily life because it can be used in many different situations. It's my favorite item.

In my article about the remote work table, "I tried out the Remote Work Table," I share my honest impressions (this is Okada's account of his experience working remotely).

3. What I like about radio: It allows for casual connections

My "night radio set." AM radio has many programs with quiet talking tones, so I recommend listening to it with earphones.

The third is that it allows you to connect with people in a loose manner.
A radio where anyone can easily send messages and request music.
Its unique appeal is that it is an interactive medium.

Casual conversations between people whose faces and names I don't know (although they all have great radio name sense).
It's not about famous people or amazing people, it's about "ordinary people."
Many people sympathize, saying, "I totally understand that!"
There's also a sense of relief that I'm not the only one who thinks that way.

If you listen to radio that "loosely connects" with people (late-night AM radio is recommended) in bed before going to sleep,
I sleep well knowing that I'm not alone. The words really hit home at night.

When I first started living alone and was feeling a bit blue, it was this radio that cheered me up.

The radio is connected to a kidney side table next to the bed.

Greenwich original Side Table . It has a vintage furniture feel to it.

What you want for those casual conversations while listening to the radio before going to sleep is a small side table like Side Table .
I would like to have an "evening radio set" with a radio and a fragrant candle next to my bed!
Not only does it have a cute, round design, but the smooth feel of the solid wood is also pleasant to the touch...both the design and materials are attractive.

What did you think about this story about radios and the related interior design?

For those who have never listened to the radio before, listening to the radio itself is a
For those who already love radio, we have interior decor that is connected to radio.
I would be happy if this could be an opportunity for you to become interested.
