I tried out the "J48" chair that I want to sit on forever

This time I tried out the FDB Möbler chair, J48 !

This chair has a distinctive design with three rounded top rails.
The design was created by Paul M. Volta, FDB Möbler's second head of planning and design.
Volta was a perfectionist in terms of design and functionality.
He disliked short-lived furniture such as fads, and left behind many durable and simple designs.

The J48's design is also full of Volta's attention to detail.
The design, born from the pursuit of "comfortable seating," is indeed very comfortable, and in keeping with its functionality, the appearance is simple and without excessive decoration.
But the three stripes and the rounded edges give it a playful and stylish feel.
It's such a nice chair.

The J48 is the only FDB Möbler product that allows you to choose between a wooden seat, fabric seat, or leather seat.
The one I tried this time had a gray-black fabric seat!

So, this time I will share my honest, unbiased impressions of using the fascinating J48!

What I liked about J48①The backrest fits comfortably along the body.

The first great thing about the J48 is its distinctive backrest!

The three lines that provide firm support for your back curve perfectly to fit your body.
Also, since it is tilted slightly backwards, it fits your body when you sit down comfortably. The feeling of it clinging to your body is addictive.

When choosing a chair, comfort is of course important, but just as important is how well the back fits.
Just like the seat, the backrest that supports your body should also be comfortable.
The three stripes provide stability and support for your entire back, while the fit is gentle and conforms to your body.
Personally, I am very happy with the fit of the J48.

And this is a niche point that I personally really like...
This exquisite curve is just right for stretching your body!

If you feel tired after working for a long time, place your arms behind your back.
My shoulder blades come together, my chest opens, my spine straightens...my body feels really stretched and it feels great.
Furthermore, the rounded ends of the three lines feel great when you squeeze them, as they press on acupressure points.
The warmth of the wood and its smooth texture are perfect.

Although it's a little different from the original use of the chair, I personally recommend it!

This is what was good about the J48② seat, which is large and thick.

The second point is the seat.
Even among fabric-upholstered chairs, this chair has a relatively thick seat, so you can enjoy a firm and comfortable sitting experience.
I often sit in this chair to watch movies, and even movies that are nearly three hours long can be enjoyed without any physical stress, and with concentration right to the end.

Watch a long movie, take your time drinking, or concentrate on reading or working...
When I'm at home, I realize that I spend a surprisingly long time sitting in a chair.

If you plan on sitting for long periods of time, we recommend a fabric seat rather than a wooden seat.
Among them, the thick and soft seat of the J48 is especially recommended!

Additionally, the seat slopes gently towards the backrest when viewed from the side.
If you sit back, it feels like you're sitting in an easy chair.
The thighs are raised a little, which improves blood circulation and makes you feel more relaxed.
As someone who gets swollen legs easily, this is one of my favorite features!

What I liked about J48③It has a Nordic feel to it.

J48 born in Denmark.
The wooden design is rich, simple, and slightly rounded, making it a very "Scandinavian" chair, so just adding one of these chairs to your room will give it a much more "Scandinavian" feel.

At home I often use blankets from Clippan, another Scandinavian brand, and the combination with the J48 is just perfect; it's so picturesque that I always find myself smiling.

Furniture has a larger presence than accessories, so it is very useful when you want to change the impression of a room.
For anyone wanting a Nordic feel, I would highly recommend the J48.
Just by adding one chair, you can make the room look much more "Scandinavian"!

What's good about the J48: 4. It's light and easy to carry.

The fourth and final point is that it is lightweight.
It looks relatively large, but it's surprisingly light to hold.
The three-striped backrest makes it easy to grab, so I can easily pick it up and carry it around the room, enjoying life with the J48.

Whether you're eating, working or studying at the remote work table, or watching a movie...
I want to be able to use my favorite J48 at all times, so I carry the chair around with me quite often, and I can do this because it's so light and easy to carry.
If the chair is heavy or difficult to carry, you may not want to move it from its place on the table.

Not only is it comfortable to sit on and has a nice design,
In fact, it is thanks to this important feature that the J48 fits perfectly into my lifestyle!

Maybe the seat is a little high

At this point, I would like to briefly touch on the point that this may not be suitable for some people.

The first is the seat height.
The soft and resilient seat is slightly high at 46 cm.
Many chairs designed in Japan are 42cm high, which some people may find a little high.

When I sit on it, my toes touch the ground and the soles of my feet feel a little like they're floating.
If you feel more comfortable with your feet firmly planted on the ground, this might not be the product for you.

As for me, this "slightly expensive" feeling felt a bit odd to me at first, but now it feels right.

As mentioned above, when viewed from the side, the seat is lower towards the backrest, and the lowest part where your back rests is actually about 42cm. That's probably why I got used to it so quickly.

The 42cm high chair I had been using until then now felt a little low and made me uneasy, but it was actually the perfect height for me that felt strange.

Maybe it has a big presence

The J48 has a more voluminous appearance than other FDB Møbler chairs, such as the J46 and J67.
If you are looking for a compact chair or have a small dining table, you may find this chair a bit too big.

By the way, I like furniture that is solid and has a strong presence.
That's why the J48 is "my type of chair."

Each chair has its own unique character and is suited to the person sitting in it.
First, choose based on the appearance, such as what you like and how you want to use it.
From among these, I would like you to find the monopod that suits you best.

Since everyone's body size and structure are different, there is no "one size fits all" recommendation.
That's why choosing a chair is fun.
Choose the chair that's right for you from the many beautiful and comfortable chairs available.
