ハンス J. ウェグナーにより、1962年にデザインされたダイニングテーブル「CH337」。
細部のデザインまでこだわりを持ち、職人技を感じられるデザインはウェグナーの家具作りへの信念を感じられます。

Hans J. Wegner (ハンス・ウェグナー)

デンマークのドイツ国境に近い職人の町・トゥナーに生まれ、14歳で家具職人の見習いとしてこの世界に足を踏み入れる。 17歳でに指物師の資格を取得。その後、国立産業研究所で木材についての専門的な研究を重ね、22歳（1936年）からはコペンハーゲン美術工芸学校でデザインの勉強をはじめる。この頃、ボーエ・モーエンセンと出会う。

卒業後の1940年から、アルネ・ヤコブセンとの共同プロジェクトで、オルフス市庁舎の家具のデザインを担当。

1943年に独立し、現在に至るまで500脚以上の椅子をデザイン。
国内外を問わず多くの展示会では数々の賞を受賞し、MoMA（ニューヨーク近代美術館）を始め、多くの公共機関にコレクションされている。

1984年 デンマークのクイーンよりナイトの称号を受ける。
1995年 ウェグナー美術館が故郷トゥナーにオープンする。

代表作に『Yチェア』『ザ・チェア』『チャイニーズチェア』などがある。
