When you order bifoclas or varifocals we send the frames out to you before making your prescription lenses. You will use the frames to take some important measurments. Next, you'll send back your frames free of charge so that we can produce your perfect prescription lenses. String®

String®は、1949年にスウェーデンの建築家であるNils Strining（ニルス・ストリニング）によってデザインされました。

その誕生のきっかけとなったのが、1949年、スウェーデンの大手出版社ボニエールが主催した収納家具のコンペでした。
「ゆとり（スペース）があれば人々はもっと本を買う」という気づきをもとに、手頃な価格で発送・組み立て・設置が簡単な収納棚をテーマに実施しました。

そのコンペに参加した、ニルス・ストリニングと妻のカイサ・ストリニングは、独創的な発想で最優秀賞を受賞。
それは壁に取り付けられ、柔軟性に優れ、かつ軽やかでミニマムな収納棚で、これこそがString®の始まりとなりました。
このデザインをきっかけに、ニルス・ストリニングは現代のスカンジナビアンデザイン（北欧デザイン）の礎を気づいた『創始者』として、今なお世界的にも高く評価されています。

それから数年で、ニルスとカイサはString® systemをさらに洗練させ、
美しさだけでなく機能性にも優れたシェルフを確立しました。
さらには、棚やキャビネット、折り畳み式テーブルなどを追加して、
時代を超えて無限に拡張・改良できる収納システムを生み出したのです。
